Steve Sanghi is the President and CEO of Microchip Technology Inc. and the Executive Chair of its Board of Directors. With more than 40 years of leadership in the semiconductor industry, Sanghi is widely recognized for his strategic vision and operational excellence. After stepping back from his CEO role in 2021 to become Executive Chair, Sanghi recently returned as President and CEO to steer Microchip through challenging economic conditions and lead the company into its next phase of innovation and growth.
Beyond Microchip, Sanghi plays an active role in advancing the technology industry. He was recently appointed to the Intel Board of Directors and serves on the boards of Impinj, Advantek, and Northern Arizona University. In recognition of his remarkable contributions to engineering and education, NAU honored him by naming its College of Engineering the Steve Sanghi College of Engineering.
Sanghi is also a respected author. His published works include Driving Excellence: How the Aggregate System Turned Microchip Technology from a Failing Company to a Market Leader (2006, co-authored), Up and to the Right: My Personal and Business Journey Building the Microchip Technology Juggernaut (2023), and his latest release, Ask Steve: Everyday Business Advice from a Successful CEO (2024).
Earlier in his career, Sanghi held key leadership positions, including Vice President of Operations at Waferscale Integration, Inc., and engineering and management roles at Intel Corporation. He earned a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication from Punjab University, India.
In December 2022, Sanghi received the prestigious Dr. Morris Chang Exemplary Leadership Award from the Global Semiconductor Industry Alliance in recognition of his impact on the semiconductor industry.
